Ciencia, tecnología e innovación en tiempos pos-COVID-19
Para este número de Yachana Revista Cientíca, su equipo editorial nos ha solicitado que abordemos
brevemente el tema “Miradas a escenarios post Covid-19 desde la Ciencia y Tecnología”.
Se trata de un asunto de enorme interés internacional y se multiplican los webinars y publicaciones
sobre el mismo.
El reciente informe de la UNESCO sobre la ciencia

, asegura que “La pandemia ha dinamizado los
sistemas de conocimiento” (p.5). Más adelante arma que se incrementa “la investigación orientada
a misiones” (p.20) en lugar de la investigación conducida por la curiosidad y llama a acercar
universidades e industria (p.22).
Todo indica que las actividades de ciencia, tecnología e innovación (CTI), incluida la formación
de talento humano deberán modicarse: ¿Cuáles deben ser esas modicaciones? ¿Cómo afectan a
las universidades? Son preguntas que resulta imposible responder en este espacio. En lo que sigue
sugerimos algunos de los problemas que requieren mayor atención.
1. Es imprescindible fortalecer las capacidades de ciencia, tecnología e innovación (CTI). El
enfrentamiento a la actual pandemia y probablemente a las siguientes, así como a otros desastres
globales que hoy nos impactan, como el cambio climático, el incremento de la pobreza, por ejemplo,
requieren más y mejor CTI. Sobre todo, si se apuesta por un mundo mejor. En plena tragedia se habla
de la necesidad de construir un orden mundial pospandemia que sea económicamente menos injusto,
más incluyente, respete los bienes comunes, permita el acceso universal a la atención de salud y la
educación, sea menos depredador en lo ambiental y propicie nuevas formas de gobernanza global
que permitan lidiar con los complejos problemas que desbordan fronteras. Todo ello es necesario
para alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible plasmados en la Agenda 2030 aprobada por la
ONU en 2015 y demanda mayores capacidades de CTI.
2. La ciencia misma deberá modicarse. La insatisfacción con la ciencia tradicional ha llevado en la
última década a la aparición de nuevos conceptos, entre ellos, por ejemplo, los de ciencia integrada
que insiste en la importancia de la interdisciplinariedad para abordar problemas complejos; el de
ciencia abierta que demanda una comunicación pública de la ciencia mucho más activa que permita
a los públicos más variados inuir en las agendas cientícas.
Entre esos conceptos emergentes destaca uno que ha venido ganando espacio en comunidades
cientícas tanto de los países del norte como del sur

. Es el concepto de ciencia de la sostenibilidad
(CS) que intenta responder a la cuestión sobre el tipo de ciencia que puede atender las demandas
del desarrollo sostenible e inclusivo. Esta ciencia debe asumir un compromiso colectivo con las
opciones tecnológicas que favorezcan esos propósitos.
La ciencia tiene que insertarse en la vida económica, social y cultural. Al hacerlo deberá cruzar
las fronteras disciplinarias y promover un enfoque de pensamiento integrado, que articule las
